Summary
To use the USB interface, Falcon must be configured. This is done with the ETS Connection Manager (the executable file is: FalconConfig.exe). This file has been installed in the Elvis directory since Elvis 2.4. The ETS Connection Manager, for example, is also supplied with ETS3 and used by ETS3.
Details
As an example, the configuration of a USB connection is shown here.
The prerequisite for the USB connection to the KNX/EIB is a PC with a USB interface, an operating system that supports USB (i.e. not Windows NT) and a KNX-USB interface. For the latter, you should use a complete device (i.e. no USB attachment on a BCU); we have successfully tested the KNX USB interfaces of the INSTA group (Berker, Gira, Jung).
In the ETS Connection Manager, create a new entry in the list of configured connections. For example, “USB” can be entered as the name and “USB” can be selected as the type. It is recommended to set this connection as the default connection (check the box).
It is also important to select “KNX-USB data interface” for the USB device in the communication parameters. Finally, click “OK” to apply the changes and close the ETS Connection Manager.
This connection should now be selected in the Elvis configuration. To do this, open the “Data Point Connectors” list. The new connection “USB” can be selected in the parameter list of the connection for EIB access (Server = Elvis EIB Port/Falcon).
