Documentation of the Elvis package “Elvis2Port”
Overview
In Elvis2 projects that are only partially or gradually migrated to Elvis3, you want to access data from the Elvis2 server from the Elvis3 server. The “Elvis2Port” package is used for this purpose.
Procedure
After inserting the package into the server project via the package manager (from Elvis 3.3.114), the new connection driver “Elvis2Driver” is available.
The next step is to create a new data point connection in the server project: Right-click on the server project – add -> add server data ->> connection with data points. The corresponding *.elvissc file should be given a corresponding name, e.g. “Elvis2.elvissc”.
Then you create a first table entry in this file by clicking on the green cross, i.e. a new port instance (here: “Elvis2”), and select the option “Elvis2Driver” in the “Driver type” column. The configuration of this new port is done in the properties window: database name (without the extension “db”), user name and password of the Elvis2 server.
If the Elvis2 server is running on a different computer than the Elvis3 server, the computer name of the Elvis2 server must also be specified. In this case, the DCOM settings must be adjusted in the same way as if Elvis3 were an Elvis2 operator station (e.g. with the Elvis2 support application).
Now you can create data points for this connection for the individual data to be transmitted. The address is the Elvis2 data pointname .
